Happy DSD | a Pixels & Company Bloghop

Do you use templates? I use them all the time! Here are my top 10 tips for using templates.

  1. File>Save As  | don't lose your original template rename the file for your new project
  2. Name the Background layer | I rename the background layer with the designer's name and the name of the template, this helps me remember when I am writing out my credits
  3. Create a Workflow | always work from the top down or the bottom up, this way you don't miss anything
  4. Use the shapes as guides | if it is a star, you don't have to replace it with a star, it can be any element that fits your theme.
  5. Hide or delete layers you don't want | this is your page, you don't have to keep anything you don't like.
  6. Rotate or flip | this is a great way to stretch your stash and create coordinating pages.
  7. Replace photo spots with journal cards or patterned paper
  8. Shrink or Enlarge everything on the page | create white space or a big focal point.
  9. Straighten or skew everything on the page | rotate and go crazy or line everything up
  10. Pair a template with a full page photo for an easy 2-page spread.
Thanks for stopping by! All the designers have out-done themselves in this fantastic new collab.

Thank you for your tips! I actually audibly went, "Ah!" for the tip about renaming the background layer. What a great idea.
