This is a design I just finished for a skate board. It's for a charity picnic called the Ween-O-Rama. The skate board is the grand prize for winning the hot dog eating contest.

Simple Little Pattern

Just a simple little pattern. I think it would be a great background with some plant motif on it. I am going to work on that over the weekend.

Gear Shift

This pattern for some reason reminds me of gears. Maybe all the circles ;). It was fun to play with a simple circle but use size contrast.

Long Stemmed Flowers

Maybe a card cover? Based on some more sketches from my sketchbook.

Here is another doodle inspired pattern. You can see the original doodle scanned from my sketchbook under the final pattern.

Today's Pattern

Well, I don't really like this one. Part of my goal for this blog was to challenge myself to make a pattern a day. So here it is for today....maybe I can salvage it later.

I just combined a couple of ideas I had half finished in this one.

Here is the Mother's Day card design idea I entered for the "Mother's Day" Tigerprint competition.

Easter Chic

This is a design for an Easter card I created for the "Easter Cute Character" Tigerprint contest. Tigerprint is a design house that supplies card and wrapping paper designs to Marks and Spencer, the fourth biggest retailer of greeting cards in the UK. Every month or so Tigerprint hosts a greeting card design contest. They offer a creative brief of what they are looking for and then their creative team votes for their favorite. It's fun to do as a creative exercise. Their website is also a great place to find some inspiration.

I started this original mushroom design (bottom one) but just didn't like how I had them patterned. Yesterday I saw something that made me go back to this and instead change their scale. Perhaps this new one could be a cover of some paper goods or stationary. Anyway, I think I like it a little better than the first.

Eyelet Lace

This pattern was inspired by some eyelet lace I found. I use some parts of this pattern on other design ideas but wanted to try it as a stripe.

Decorative Plate

This is a design idea for a rounded square decorative plate. I have green walls and cabinets with white accent in my kitchen. I received an orange clock as a gift and love the pop of orange in our kitchen. I wanted to put more of that pop in the form of decorative plates to be hung above our sink. As usual I can never find what I like in stores or online so I decided to try and make my own. I am attempting to use LazerTran paper transfers to put the design on a ceramic plate I have. I will post a picture, that is if it's successful. I think it would be so fun to have it printed on Melamine plates so that it could be low-cost but fun. Of course, I could go to Freddy & Ma to customize a plate using their designs. Check it out here.

Wrought Iron

This is a pattern quite different from the ones I have shown so far. This pattern was inspired by the rusting wrought iron outside our little condo. This is a more layered effect, perhaps something good for scrapbook paper or stationary? I hope you can see all the elements going on in this quality of jpg.

I heart patterns

Hopefully the title says it all. I created this pattern in February as an idea for a Valentines Day card cover. Perhaps it's a little too predictable but I thought I would share it with you anyway.

Berry Branch

Here is another doodle inspired pattern. I think this would look great in other colors as well. They could all coordinate in a line of paper or textiles.

An apple a day

I was working on a logo for a client and while exploring ideas I doodled this little apple. I thought it was a fun shape and made it into a pattern. Green and orange always brighten my day. I hope this brightens your day!

Art Nouveau Inspired

You will recognize this pattern as used in my header above. I thought I would post a closer look. Art Nouveau seems to be inspiring me lately and I did this pattern a few days ago after inspiration from a book of Art Nouveau art work.

I am a freelance graphic designer with a passion for all types of surface pattern design. I study it, collect it, wear it and do any and everything I can with it.This blog is a daily journal of my own pattern designs and inspirations. This first pattern was inspired by my love of strawberries and a vintage tablecloth my mom gave me.
